Football University Pre-Camp
On a perfect sunny day at Langley's McLeod Park field around ninety plus of the best
lower mainland and Vancouver Island football players put their skills and abilities to work at what was the first ever selection camp for the Football University program.
Football University was an idea devised by Rich McGuinness, president of SportsLink, who also created the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, the national high school all-star game televised on NBC. The program's purpose is to train North America's top young football players and provide maximum exposure to over 400 college programs. Modeled after NFL football camps each Football University camp provides intense training on and off the field under the tutelage of the NFL's top instructors.
VMFL's Head of Coaches Shane Thompson,
who was appointed Director of Coaching for BC by FBU,
was asked to find a few of the best potential football athletes here in the lower mainland and Vancouver Island and reward these young players with an invite to the Football University camp in Seattle Washington later on this month.
A special thanks to Football University for the warm welcome and offer to include some British Columbia players a chance to participate in their top quality program. As well thanks to all the high quality volunteer coaches and assistants from around various football programs past and present and thanks to Langley Minor and all their volunteers that worked through out the day to facilitate this great event.
