Spring Flag
What is it?
Spring Flag is a five on five non-contact flag football game that runs in the VMFL during the months of April and May. Each team comprises of around six to eight players and games are played over five weekends with each weekend consisting of multiple games during the day. After the five weekends teams head to the provincial championships which take place over a full weekend in May.
What age groups
There are three age groups consisting of U14, U16 and U18.
Where do I go to join
Many of the VMFL associations put out Spring Flag teams. Last year Westside, Coquitlam, North Surrey, Cloverdale, Langley and South Delta all entered teams. Check with your local association to see if they plan to participate this year.
When does it play
Most associations take registration for Spring Flag in early March. The season consists of five weekends (either a Saturday or Sunday) of games at one park starting in April and running through May. Each weekend each team will participate in playing four or more games during one day on the weekend. The Provincial Championships are held in Mid-JUne and consist of a round robin over two days where teams will play from four to more games. There is also a National championship for U16 and U18 in July.
