Home of the famous Maui Ribs, the South Delta
Minor Football association has traditionally
kicked off the pre-season action down in sunny
Tsawwassen with the Rotary Bowl. Being a
short hop from Vancouver Island, often Victoria
have been seen participating in this annual
event along with Valley Football teams. Although early in the season this
has been a great tournament to allow coaches get
their first looks at their team. Most levels are
included from Atom to Bantam over a two day
period.
Coquitlam:
Schedule
As a long time strong association, Coquitlam
Minor has continued their annual tournament however adjusting it
in recent years, moving it up to the beginning of August and
changing the tournament to a 10 play scrimmage format.
This has allowed coaches and teams to have a better chance early
on to see a more complete picture of how their team is looking.
All levels are included from flag to Midget over a two day
period.
Chilliwack:
Schedule
A quick drive out to the valley will give you
some good fresh country air and some great football as every
year the Chilliwack Minor Football Association puts on their
Chilli Bowl played out of Townsend Park. The younger
players have several mini-games versus both Valley and VMFL
teams while the older divisions will play full length games.
Meadow Ridge:

Just a hop, skip and jump from Coquitlam the
Meadow Ridge Minor Football Association puts on their annual
Knights of the Round Table Tournament. Set on the fields
of Albion Fairgrounds this tournament is a two day event
featuring Atom and Junior Bantam on Saturday and Peewee and
Bantam on Sunday.
Langley:

Mid-month the Langley Minor Football Association
puts on their Golden Helmet tournament where a wide variety of
teams participate including many Valley Football League teams.
This two day event is now played at the McLeod Athletic Park on
the turf field and features all
levels from Flag through to Midget.
Cloverdale:

The annual Cloverbowl has become another strong
traditional tournament held every year around mid-August.
Played on the turf field at Cloverdale Athletic this tournament
features all levels of teams from Flag to Midget over a two day
period.
North Delta:

On the last weekend before kicking off the
regular season North Delta Minor Football and their Longhorn
teams host a two day tournament featuring many of the different
levels of football. Played on the superb grass field of
John Oliver Park in North Delta this tournament is the perfect
time to fine tune that football team before the real season
starts.
North Surrey:

When it comes to tradition nothing speaks louder
then the Annual Bronze Boot tournament held every year at North
Surrey's Bear Creek Park. Going on 41 years this year this
tournament features some of the best around the league including
the occasional Valley Football League team. Like North
Delta this is a final wind up before the season and hosts all
divisions over two days. Unlike other tournaments this one
also runs Kickoffs and Convert attempts so each team gets to
practice their entire football book. |
